This is a group task that I did with Marcus Andersson, Isa Hällgren and Martin _. Our brief was to redesign Snickers' existing packaging to make it more sustainable while meeting existing needs.
Needs
The needs of the four different target groups, the Manufacturer, the Purchaser, the Trader and the State, must all be met and look very different. Below is a list where some of the target groups' needs are addressed.
Manufacturer:
a) Cheap manufacturing
b) Efficient manufacturing
c) Describe its content
d) New packaging must match the old production
e) Protect the content
f) Easy to transport and pack in larger packages
g) Light weight

Purchaser:
a) Simple transportation
b) Simple unpacking for sale
c) Fit with other products on the shelves
d) Cheap to buy in

Merchant:
a) Good looks - easy toremember
b) Good texture on the packaging
c) Easy to open
d) Reclosable
e) Table of contents
f) The trash must take up some space in the pocket
g) It must be possible to eat it without getting sticky (with the packaging)

Sketches
Several sketches were made individually which are then evaluated as a group. This resulted in the best parts of all the sketches being combined to produce a final concept.

Selected concept
The chosen concept consists of several good parts that come from some sketches above. The material has also been chosen as a paper material that can withstand contact with food and is environmentally friendly.

Prototype
With the chosen concept, a prototype was produced which was first made in plain paper to test the folding, also a simple sketch of the texture was made. I made a new texture for the packaging in Photoshop to further visualize what a finished concept would look like. The new texture was made to the correct size and then folded like the previous prototypes to a final concept.

Final concept
To make a final concept, a real Snickers was used to compare the size difference between the new and old packaging shown in the first image. In the lower picture, both packages are shown in perspective.

I think this has been a very fun job where I have had to work with others to jointly come up with several different solutions to the problem. I have learned a lot about prototyping and programs like Photoshop. Being able to find, choose material and argue for it is also something I have learned.
